What to do in the Minnesota cold
Relative to gardening, February in Minnesota is all about being indoors. Outside is too depressing, the snow is dirty, there is sand and salt all over the place and we still have Christmas decorations we couldn't pull out of the ground. Does give one something to look at out the window, however. I tend to leave lots of things that have seed heads still standing in the fall, but I am sick of looking at them now too. Some people will probably start tomatoes and pepper plants in pots, but I'm more of a perennial gardener, and I do not start seeds for those. So, I've been keeping busy by propagating my house plants. I cut up a philodendron into 15 new plants that are busy rooting in water. I trimmed a jade tree and now have seven new little jade tree plants in a window. Next I will cut back my wild Christmas cactus as it is taking over the living room. Now, I get that this isn't real gardening and I'm just fooling myself into thinking that I am practicing for the big show (to me gardening is as important as the baseball season opener), but I like to play in the dirt and this is working for now. I think that for next year, I will have to buy some more house plants.

Gardening Tip 2/17/09
Too early to do anything outside right now, so I suggest you get your garden fix at burpee.com or some site like that. However, please remember that it is also too early to order anything but seeds. So settle down.

General Rules for this Blog
If you are reading this, so far, so good. The theme of this blog may change at the whim of it's owner, who is a woman. This is my perogative. Not all comments will be pithy, wise, funny or relevant, but spelling will count. All appearances that things have become a little random probably means that things have become a little random. The rest of the rules will be made up as we go. (Stole this line from Working Girl). If you have never seen Working Girl, you are too young to be reading this blog. Go to a blog where they quote from Juno.
